About the Atosa MBC80GR
Overview
The Atosa MBC80GR is a horizontal bottle cooler for commercial beverage storage and service. Its 80.5-inch-wide cabinet has a stainless steel exterior and interior, 21.2 cu. ft. of capacity and three sliding stainless steel lids. The lids provide access to the cooler contents from above, while five standard wire dividers help separate and organize bottles. A built-in bottle opener and cap catcher are also standard features.
An electronic temperature controller displays the cabinet temperature and allows the set temperature to be adjusted. Atosa lists a recommended refrigerator setting of 35°F to 38°F for food preservation. The operation manual gives an electronic control setting range of 36°F to 46°F; consult the equipment rating information and operating documentation when setting the cabinet.
Key Features
- Stainless steel construction: The manufacturer lists stainless steel for both the exterior and interior.
- Electronic temperature control: The display shows the current cabinet air temperature and supports setpoint adjustment.
- Three sliding lids: Stainless steel lids with handles provide access to the bottle storage area. Lid locks are standard.
- Organized bottle storage: Five wire dividers are listed for the MBC80GR.
- Embraco compressor: The heavy-duty compressor uses R290 refrigerant. The compressor assembly slides out for maintenance access.
- Bar-service details: A bottle opener and cap catcher are standard.
- Pre-installed casters: The unit has 2-inch casters, including casters with brakes and casters without brakes, as shown in the parts information.

Installation & Requirements
Positioning and site
Unpack the cooler and remove its white PVC protective film and other transit protection. Position it on a flat surface and level it by adjusting the leveling legs. The manual says to lift the cabinet from the exterior of its base and not to move it by applying pressure to its surface. If the equipment has been positioned horizontally, wait two hours before switching it on.
Install the cabinet in a protected indoor location, not in an explosive environment, in the open air or where it is exposed to rain. Keep it away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight, and protect it from drafts. The manual calls for free air circulation around the condensing unit and its positioning illustration indicates a clearance of at least 50 cm. It gives an optimum operating ambient temperature range of 50°F to 90°F.
Electrical connection
Check the supply against the equipment rating label. The specification sheet lists 115 V, 60 Hz, single-phase operation and a NEMA 5-15P plug. The manual calls for a grounded electrical connection with suitable electrical safety protection. Where an additional all-pole switch is needed, the manual says it should be installed by a qualified person and have a minimum contact clearance of 3 mm. Keep the supply cable stretched rather than coiled or overlapped, and away from liquids, water and heat. The manual says a damaged supply cable must be replaced by qualified personnel and cautions against using reducers or adapters.
Defrost-water drainage
The manual states that defrost water dispersal is automatic on models with an integral condensing unit.
Operation
Switching on and reading the display
Switch on the cabinet using its power switch. The electronic panel illuminates and displays the current cabinet temperature; a compressor indicator is also provided. During normal operation, the displayed reading is the air temperature inside the cabinet. After a power interruption, the compressor normally restarts after a slight delay.
Setting the temperature
Press and hold the SET button for one second to read the set temperature. To change it, press SET and use the up or down switch to increase or decrease the displayed setting. Press SET again to confirm the new value. The manual states a control setting range of 36°F to 46°F. Atosa's specification sheet separately recommends setting the refrigerator between 35°F and 38°F for food preservation.
Loading and storing products
The manual identifies beer refrigeration, preparation and sale as a possible application. Wait until the cabinet reaches the desired operating temperature shown on the display before loading merchandise. Do not put uncovered hot foods or liquids in the cabinet. Package or protect foods where possible, avoid obstructing interior air circulation with excess product, and avoid frequent or prolonged opening. After closing a lid or drawer, wait a few moments before opening it again. When loading, open one drawer at a time, as directed by the manual.
Defrosting
The electronic control automatically defrosts four times in 24 hours. The timer resets to the time of the initial start-up. The manual describes starting a manual defrost by holding the DEF button for more than five seconds; a defrost cycle then begins immediately, with the next cycle starting six hours later. The DEF indicator illuminates during defrosting.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Initial cleaning
Before use, clean the cabinet walls and interior parts with an antibacterial detergent. Clean plastic parts with a damp cloth, using little or no water, and dry with a soft, clean cloth. The manual says not to use harsh or abrasive solvents or detergents. Wear protective gloves when cleaning near parts that could cut, including the evaporator and condenser.
Condenser and service access
Atosa advises cleaning the condenser frequently so the unit can draw in fresh air. The compressor assembly slides out for easier maintenance access. The manual includes periodic cleaning and condenser cleaning in its maintenance instructions, but the available manual text does not specify a cleaning interval or a detailed condenser-cleaning procedure.
Troubleshooting
Electronic alarm
The manual identifies a flashing EO alarm code. If the electronic panel displays the listed alarm, switch the panel off, wait a few seconds and switch it back on. If the code appears again, contact technical assistance and report the displayed code.
Power interruption
Following a power supply interruption, the compressor normally restarts with a slight delay. The manual also lists sections on a cabinet that does not operate, does not reach the required temperature, leaks water or makes unacceptable noise; the available text does not provide the corrective steps for those conditions.
Applications
The MBC80GR suits commercial beverage service where staff need a large horizontal cold-storage area with access from above. Use cases include a restaurant bar, tavern, beverage station or other commercial setting storing bottled beer and other chilled beverages. Its dividers support organized storage, and the built-in opener and cap catcher are useful at a service point. Follow the manual's guidance to let the cooler reach its operating temperature before loading and to avoid blocking interior airflow.
