Overview

Installation & Requirements

The supplied installation and operation manual is for the Atosa MGF8405GR, but includes a technical table covering the MGF8412GR and instructions for the undercounter/worktop equipment group. Use the current model documentation for final installation details. The manual calls for checking the supply against the unit’s factory label and connecting the equipment to a 115V outlet. It also specifies full-fault protection or an automatic circuit breaker and identifies a grounding terminal. The product spec sheet lists a NEMA 5-15P plug.

Position the cabinet on a flat surface and level it by adjusting the levelling legs, as directed in the manual. The manual says to lift the cabinet from the exterior of its base and not to move it by applying pressure to its surface. If the unit has been positioned horizontally and has an integral condensing unit, wait two hours before switching it on.

Choose a location away from direct heat sources and protect the unit from direct sunlight, drafts, rain and open-air exposure. The manual says air circulation must be maintained around the condensing unit and warns that failure to observe the stated siting conditions can adversely affect cabinet operation. It also says not to install the equipment in an explosive atmosphere. The manual gives no numerical clearance measurement.

Operation

Use the electronic controller to monitor the cabinet temperature and set the freezer temperature. Atosa recommends a setpoint between -8°F and 0°F for food preservation. The supplied manual describes an XR06CX controller and provides instructions for changing the setpoint: press and hold SET for more than two seconds until the setpoint is displayed and the temperature indicator blinks; use the arrow keys to adjust the value, then press SET again or wait for the controller to return to its normal display. The manual’s controller instructions may be specific to the control fitted to the equipment, so check the installed controller before following them.

The manual also describes starting a manual defrost by holding the DEF key for more than two seconds. Its keypad instructions say to hold the specified keys for more than three seconds to lock the keyboard; the display shows “OF.” To unlock it, hold the keys together until “On” appears. These control instructions are included in the supplied manual; refer to the controller fitted to the unit if its keys or display differ.

The worktop freezer is intended for commercial use. The door closes automatically and has a stay-open feature for loading and unloading. The magnetic gasket supports a positive door seal. Avoid placing glass products in the freezer, as the manual warns that they may break when their contents freeze. Do not store aerosol cans with a flammable propellant in the appliance.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Before first use, the manual directs operators to clean the cabinet’s interior and other parts. For walls and internal parts, it recommends an antibacterial detergent; for plastic parts, use a damp cloth. Dry with a soft, clean cloth and use little or no water. Do not use harsh or abrasive solvents or detergents. Wear protective gloves when cleaning near parts that could cut, including the evaporator and condenser.

Atosa’s specification sheet advises cleaning the condenser frequently to give the unit more fresh air. Keep the ventilation openings clear. The manual cautions against using mechanical devices or other means to speed up defrosting except those recommended by the manufacturer. It also warns not to damage the refrigerant circuit and not to use electrical appliances inside the food-storage compartments unless the manufacturer recommends that type.

Defrost water is dispersed automatically on models with an integral condensing unit, according to the manual. For disposal of the appliance, the manual says that the refrigerant and insulation-blowing gas require special procedures and advises consulting a service agent or similarly qualified person.

Applications
