About the Atosa RDCS-60
Overview
The Atosa RDCS-60 is a freestanding, floor-model refrigerated display case for presenting chilled products while keeping them accessible from the service side. It has a see-through glass display, a stainless steel exterior and interior, and 20.2 cu. ft. of stated capacity. Two rear sliding doors give staff access for stocking and service. The Atosa specification sheet lists a temperature range of 35°F–38°F; retailer specifications also report a 33°F–38°F range, so consult the unit’s documentation and controller for the applicable operating range.
The manufacturer’s manual identifies the RDCS series as equipment for refrigerating and displaying cakes and related foods, and lists supermarkets, cake shops and hotels as suitable settings. It also cautions that the cabinet is intended for items that are not potentially hazardous, giving bottles, cans and securely packaged products as examples. Check product suitability and applicable food-handling requirements for your operation.
Key Features
- Visible product presentation: Double-pane tempered glass and a front defog feature support clear viewing. The manual says the heating-wire switch is off by default to save electricity; it can be switched on for defogging if condensation forms on the front glass in a humid environment.
- Illuminated display: LED interior lighting is provided on each shelf and at the top of the cabinet.
- Adjustable merchandising: Two stainless steel adjustable shelves are standard, allowing the interior arrangement to be changed for different product heights.
- Service-side access: Two rear sliding doors allow staff to replenish or retrieve products from behind the case.
- Temperature control: A full electronic digital controller manages the cabinet temperature. The specification sheet lists a 35°F–38°F range.
- Refrigeration system: The case uses a rear-mounted compressor and R-290 refrigerant. Retailer specifications describe the refrigeration as self-contained and air-cooled.
- Construction and mobility: Stainless steel interior and exterior, magnetic door gaskets and standard 2-inch casters are listed for the model.

Some supplied product references show different values for capacity, temperature range and electrical supply. The figures above identify those differences rather than treating them as interchangeable; check the equipment nameplate and the documentation supplied with the specific unit when confirming site requirements.
Installation & Requirements
- Location: The manual says to place the cabinet indoors, on a flat, solid surface in a dry, well-ventilated area. Keep it away from direct sunlight, heat sources and dust.
- Wall spacing: The manual specifies at least 10 cm (4 in.) between the rear of the unit and the wall or other objects that could interfere with airflow.
- Ambient conditions: The manual gives an ambient operating range of 16°C–32°C (60.8°F–89.6°F) and warns that the refrigerator may not work properly outside that range.
- Electrical connection: The manual calls for a dedicated, grounded, single-phase, three-pin receptacle and says not to share the outlet with another appliance. Its electrical instruction lists 115 V / 60 Hz; the Atosa specification sheet lists 120 V / 60 Hz / 1 phase and a standard NEMA 5-15P plug. Confirm the actual unit’s nameplate and electrical supply before connection.
- Grounding and cord safety: The manual requires reliable grounding. Keep the power cord out of aisles and protect it from heavy objects and sharp items. Do not use wet hands or feet to operate the equipment.
- After transport: Keep the cabinet upright during transport. If it has tilted, the manual instructs leaving it upright for 24 hours before starting it so compressor lubricant can return to the compressor.
- R-290 safety: The manual identifies R-290 as flammable and warns of fire and explosion risk. It says not to store explosive substances such as aerosol cans in the appliance and not to drill, cut or alter the unit.
Operation
Starting the cabinet
After placing the unit, clean the cabinet parts, wipe them dry and install the shelves in their positions. Connect the case to power and check that the lighting on each shelf works. The manual says the controller comes with default parameters and cautions against changing them without a specific need. When first operated, run the empty cabinet for two hours; load products only after the interior temperature has reached the indicated range. The manual also recommends keeping the equipment running 24 hours a day to maintain food quality.
Loading and defogging
Digital controller
- To change the set point, hold the SET key for more than two seconds. When the value appears and the temperature-unit LED blinks, use the up or down key to adjust it within 10 seconds. Press SET to store the new value, or wait 10 seconds.
- To change a parameter, press SET and the down key for three seconds to enter programming mode. Select a parameter and press SET to show its value; use the up or down key to change it. Press SET to save and move to the next parameter. Exit with SET and the up key, or wait 15 seconds.
- The manual identifies HY as the intervention differential for the set point, id as the interval between defrost cycles in hours, and Md as the maximum defrost length in minutes.
- Hold the manual-defrost key for more than two seconds to start a manual defrost.
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Clean the cabinet frequently to support food hygiene and quality. Disconnect the power before cleaning.
- Use neutral detergent and mild water on the cabinet. Wipe repeatedly with a clean cloth to remove detergent residue, then make sure the equipment is completely dry before use.
- A damp towel may be used on the exterior, but do not expose the unit to direct water or flush it with water. The manual warns that water can wet electrical parts and create a risk of current leakage.
- Do not use organic solvents, including gasoline or alcohol; the manual warns they can damage internal parts and may generate explosive gas.
- Keep the condenser clean. Atosa’s specification sheet specifically advises frequent condenser cleaning.
- Handle glass carefully because it can break easily. Before moving the cabinet, unplug it; the manual says never to tilt it more than 45 degrees during handling.
- For an extended shutdown, remove all food, unplug the cabinet, clean the interior and exterior, and leave the door open so the interior can dry thoroughly.
- Do not alter the unit. The manual warns that drilling, cutting or other alteration terminates the warranty.
Troubleshooting
The supplied manual advises disconnecting power before simple troubleshooting. For maintenance or replacement work, it directs operators to professional maintenance staff or an authorized service agent; if the listed checks do not resolve a problem, contact a professional. Its controller alarm descriptions are:
- P1: Room probe failure. Compressor output operates according to the controller’s “Cy” and “Cn” settings.
- P2: Evaporator probe failure. Defrost end is timed.
- HA: Maximum-temperature alarm; outputs unchanged.
- LA: Minimum-temperature alarm; outputs unchanged.
- EA: External alarm; outputs unchanged.
- CA: Serious external alarm; all outputs off.
- dA: Door-open indication; the manual notes that the compressor and fans restart.
The manual also describes normal operating sounds: water-like sounds may be heard as refrigerant circulates. In wet weather, condensation may appear on the exterior because of high humidity; wipe it off with a cloth.
Applications
The RDCS-60 suits foodservice and retail spaces that need a full-service chilled display, including cake shops, supermarkets, hotels, cafés and delis. The manual specifically describes displaying cakes and related foods, and identifies bottles, cans and securely packaged products as examples of items intended for the cabinet. Its 20.2 cu. ft. capacity, adjustable shelves, illuminated glass display and rear staff access support product presentation and replenishment in customer-facing service areas.
