CLA2

Overview

The CLA2 brings together three working systems: a pneumatic apply circuit built around a tie-rod cylinder, an electrical control package centred on the CLA power control board, and a belt-driven label head with clutch-and-sprocket drive and optical label sensing. Pneumatic apply circuit

The parts manual lays out a complete air circuit: a valve and connector assembly (42514), a barbed tee fitting (41722), eight straight fittings (41720) and four colour-coded vinyl tubing runs — red at 46 in. (42543-3), clear at 64 1/2 in. (42541-3), blue at 59 1/2 in. (42542-3) and white at 48 in. (42544-2). Parts suppliers also list a cylinder seal kit for the CLA/CLA2 tie-rod cylinder, confirming the pneumatic apply cylinder at the core of the unit.

Label sensing

The catalog includes a left-hand sensor bracket (41871) and a reflection-reduction ring (42075), mounted with four 1/4-20 lock nuts (NS-38-4) that Hobart identifies as mounting the sensor brackets. The reflection-reduction ring indicates a reflective optical sensor for label detection.

Belt-driven label head with clutch

Drive hardware includes a 177-tooth timing belt (41724), timing pulleys (41697) — one specified at 3mm HTD pitch — 1/8 x 1/2 in. Woodruff keys (KW-3-3) and a flanged bearing (183969). Drive reaches the apply point through a clutch and sprocket assembly (44114) running on three thrust bearings (44068), actuated by a shifter (41981), shift lever assemblies (three of 41335 and one of 41983), two shifter bushings (41977) and a shifting arm stud (41975), secured with 10-32 x 3/16 in. socket set screws (SC-75-41).

Electrical control package

Control power comes from a transformer rated 100 to 135 Vac at 60 Hz (41800). The CLA power control board (42393) carries all four fast-blo fuses: F1 at 250 V, 3 A (FE-22-23); F2 at 250 V, 1/2 A (FE-24-34); and F3 and F4 at 250 V, 7 A (FE-25-08). Switching is handled by a DPST–NO relay rated 120 V, 15 A (42277) plus a second relay (331961), with a barrier terminal block (42239), power supply bracket assembly (41973), cable clips (42552), Type-U clips (41711) and a caterpillar grommet (334655-2) completing the layout shown in electrical box illustration PL-52014.

Conveyor and frame

The label head runs over a conveyor carried on dedicated support bars: front bar 43488 and rear bar 43489, listed for the CLA2-1 build (ML-44083, the Primary configuration). Structure comes from a left-hand side frame assembly (41968) and a front-and-rear frame (41764).
