About the Hobart CLPS76eN-BAS
Overview
The Hobart CLPS76eN-BAS is a CLeN-series conveyor dishwasher for commercial dishrooms. Its single wash tank and 22-inch Power Scrapper are specified for a capacity of 245 racks per hour. The machine has insulated, hinged doors with interlock switches, top-mounted microprocessor controls and a 19.5-inch standard chamber opening. The specification sheet says the opening can accommodate up to six standard sheet pans at a time on an open-end sheet pan rack.
CLPS76eN-BAS documentation covers both gas- and electric-heated configurations. The exact heat source, booster arrangement and electrical service affect the installation requirements; check the machine data plate and the documentation for the specific build before planning connections.

- Optional built-in electric booster: 15 kW for a 40°F rise or 30 kW for a 70°F rise. The 30 kW booster is field-convertible to 15 kW when the specified incoming water temperature is provided.
- Ventilation figures in the specification sheets: Minimum 200 CFM at the load end and 400 CFM at the unload end. Gas-heated machines require a means of exhausting flue gases outdoors.
- Gas connection, gas-heated configuration: 1/2-inch FPT. The gas specification lists 78,000 BTU per hour for natural gas or propane. Specified flowing gas pressure is 3.5 to 7 inches water column for natural gas and 9 to 11 inches water column for propane in the manual’s gas data table.
- Water pressure: The specification sheet calls for 20 PSI flowing pressure at the dish machine, plus or minus 5 PSI. The manual gives a machine operating range of 15 to 25 PSIG.
- Incoming water temperature: For BAS without a built-in booster, the manual specifies 180°F minimum and 194°F maximum for hot-water sanitizing, or 120°F minimum for chemical sanitizing. With a 15 kW built-in booster, the minimum is 140°F; with a 30 kW built-in booster, it is 110°F.
- Water hardness: Hobart recommends water hardness of 3 grains or less for best results. The product specifications suggest adding a water softener at 3 grains of hardness or more.
- Electrical service: Requirements depend on the heat and booster configuration. The electric BAS sheet lists three-phase, 60 Hz service options. For electric BAS with an internal 30 kW booster, the dual-point table lists 208/60/3 and 240/60/3; 480/60/3 and 600/60/3 are also listed. Use the machine data plate and the applicable wiring table to confirm the specific service and circuit requirements.
Installation & Requirements
Have plumbing and electrical connections made by qualified personnel in accordance with applicable codes. The manual directs installers to check that the electrical service matches the machine data plate, located on the left side of the control box. In Canada, the manual names CAN/CSA B149.1 and CSA C22.1, latest editions, where applicable. The gas-heated specification sheet also warns that gas exhaust must be installed according to local code.
Water, drain and gas connections
The common tank drain uses one connection to the floor drain. The manual specifies a 2-inch NPT drain connection through a trap. If a grease trap is required by code, the manual specifies a minimum flow capacity of 38 gallons per minute. A drain water tempering kit is available as an accessory for BAS models.
For gas-heated builds, connect the specified natural gas or propane supply to the 1/2-inch FPT connection. The manual gives a 78,000 BTU-per-hour input and specifies gas pressures by fuel type. It says to provide a shut-off valve and leak-test gas connections with soapy water, not an open flame. A gas-heated machine must have a means to exhaust flue gases outdoors. The manual specifies minimum clearance from combustible construction of 3 inches at the rear and 0 inches at the sides, plus 23 inches at the front and 20 inches at each end for service and operation.
Electrical, room and service planning
Electrical requirements differ by build, voltage and booster arrangement. The electric BAS spec sheet provides connection tables for the listed three-phase, 60 Hz options, including separate motor/control and booster connections on some configurations. Confirm the exact voltage, amperage, circuit and connection arrangement from the machine data plate and applicable spec sheet rather than applying one configuration’s figures to another.
The specification sheet lists minimum ventilation of 200 CFM at the load end and 400 CFM at the unload end. It also shows 20 inches of service clearance at both ends and 23 inches of open-door clearance. These are planning details for this machine; gas-heated units additionally require flue exhaust to the exterior.
Operation
Use the POWER key to turn the machine on or off. The manual describes keypad controls for starting, stopping and accessing programmable functions. The machine can enter energy-saver mode; if it is in that mode, the troubleshooting table says to press STOP on the keypad to resume. If the conveyor has stopped or the machine is idle, the manual also lists pressing START or inserting a rack as possible ways to resume after an auto-timer timeout.
Controls monitor operating temperatures, and the spec sheet lists a manager-activated low-temperature alert and dirty-water indicator. The configurable pot-and-pan dwell mode is intended for pot-and-pan ware. Follow the detergent and chemical supplier’s directions for dispensing; the manual identifies incorrect detergent dispensing as a possible cause of poor cleaning.
Cleaning & Maintenance
At the end of the day, the manual directs operators to thoroughly clean the machine, rinse and dry it, and leave the doors open. Before cleaning, press POWER to turn the machine off, disconnect electrical power and follow lockout/tagout procedures. The manual warns that there may be multiple circuits. Open the doors; door interlock switches prevent operation with inspection doors open.
- Inspect the upper and lower final-rinse nozzles for debris.
- Open the drain or drains by pulling the drain levers up.
- Remove the wash arms and end caps. Push nozzle obstructions into the wash arms, flush the arms thoroughly in a sink and replace the end caps.
- Hose debris from the machine walls toward the strainers before removing the strainer pans and baskets. Clean debris from the backs of the doors, between the doors and chamber, and around the chamber door seal. Avoid spraying the controls on top of the unit directly.
- Remove the strainer pans and baskets, empty them into a garbage can or disposer, and clean them in a sink. Do not strike them against solid objects to dislodge debris.
- When the tanks are empty, remove the standpipe and clean the pump-intake strainer at the standpipe or tank bottom.
The manual says to use a damp cloth and mild soapy water on the machine surfaces and to use only products formulated for stainless steel. Follow the chemical professional’s deliming schedule. Do not allow food soil to collect on the tank bottom, tank sides or door seal; do not use residential dishwasher detergent, steel wool or excessive detergent, sanitizer, rinse-aid or delimer concentrations. Keep foreign objects, especially metallic contaminants, out of the unit. Hobart warns that failure to follow its use, care and maintenance instructions may void the warewasher warranty.
Troubleshooting
No machine operation
The manual lists these possible causes and checks: a blown fuse or tripped supply breaker; inspection doors that are not closed; a jammed conveyor; an auto-timer timeout, for which it says to press START or insert a rack; a tripped table limit switch, if one is used; or energy-saver mode, for which it says to press STOP on the keypad to resume. Disconnect power and use lockout/tagout procedures before checking obstructions or performing cleaning work.
Dishes not clean
The manual lists insufficient wash water, a drain obstruction causing an open-drain condition, a worn or torn drain O-ring, a missing wash-arm end cap, a blocked wash-arm nozzle, a worn or torn manifold O-ring, pump obstructions that reduce water pressure, incorrect water temperature, incorrect detergent dispensing and dirty strainer pans or baskets as possible causes. It directs operators to check for obstructions at the pump intake after draining the tank. For temperature problems, the manual says to check the electric heat breaker, main steam valve or gas supply valve, as applicable, and make sure the valve is fully open. Contact the detergent representative about dispensing issues. The manual also notes that tanks may need to be drained and refilled with clean water.
Applications
The conveyor format and listed 245-rack-per-hour capacity suit commercial dishrooms that process a steady rack flow. The 19.5-inch chamber opening and specified sheet-pan capacity are relevant to kitchens that wash standard sheet pans on an open-end sheet pan rack. The configurable pot-and-pan dwell mode supports pot-and-pan loads as listed in Hobart’s specifications.
