About the Hobart FT1000e-ADV
Overview
The Hobart FT1000e-ADV is a commercial flight-type dishwasher in the FT1000 e-Series. It is identified as an Advansys model in Hobart’s manuals. A product listing describes the FT1000E+ADVANSYS as a low-energy, ventless flight-type machine with dual rinse. The FT1000e-ADV manual covers tank filling, conveyor operation, cleaning and service checks.
This is a conveyor machine: ware moves through the dishwasher rather than being washed in a single stationary rack. The controls include Power, Start, Stop and Speed Selection functions. The manual also describes inspection doors, tank drains, strainers, wash arms, rinse arms, photo sensors and conveyor anti-jam components.
Key Features
- Flight-type conveyor washing: Ware travels through the machine on a conveyor. The operator can select a conveyor speed at the keypad.

Installation & Requirements
The manual says the water supply valves—and steam supply valves, if the machine is steam-equipped—must be open, and the electrical supply must be on before the machine will function. Before filling, close the tank drains and doors. For a machine equipped with Auto Clean and/or Auto Delime, the manual specifies that the Master Drain must be open for the initial setup described there.
When the operator presses Power, the display lights. If a door is open, the display reports “Door(s) Open”; if a tank drain is open, it reports “Drain(s) Open.” When doors and drains are in the required positions, the display indicates that the tanks are filling. Opening a door during filling stops the fill valve; closing the door resumes the fill cycle. The manual also calls for curtains to be installed in their proper positions before operation.
The supplied excerpts do not give clearances, a complete electrical connection specification, or ventilation connection instructions for this model. The manual is prepared for experienced, trained professionals, and it warns that electrical work may involve multiple circuits. Disconnect all circuits and follow lockout/tagout procedures before servicing.
Operation
Filling and starting
Before starting, check that the supply valves are open, the required drains are closed, the doors are closed and the curtains are installed. Press Power at the keypad on the control-box door. The tanks begin filling when the door and drain conditions are satisfied. After the water reaches the lower float in each tank, the wash, rinse and dual-rinse tanks begin heating. The fill valves shut off automatically when the tanks are full, and the display shows tank temperatures. The manual also describes a Maintenance Fill feature that adds water to maintain the proper tank water level.
Conveyor and rinse operation
The keypad’s Speed Selection button changes the conveyor speed setting. The manual gives low and medium settings and a 4.0–8.5 ft/min parameter range. Load and unload switches, a dish-limit function and an anti-jam sensor are included in the manual’s operating and maintenance checks. For Advansys models, the service manual notes that final rinse is active whenever the conveyor is running.
The manual recommends checking final-rinse temperature against the 180°F (82°C) minimum reference. A low-temperature alarm can display a message when enabled; the manual states that this alert does not stop the machine, and ware continues through it. The displayed temperature remains available even when the extra alert is disabled.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Daily manual cleaning
The manual recommends completing manual cleaning once per day. It instructs operators to turn the machine off, disconnect electrical power and use lockout/tagout procedures; there may be multiple circuits. Open the front access doors and drain the machine. Remove and clean the curtains. Before removing the strainer baskets and pans, rinse the interior and tank shelves so debris moves toward the strainers.
Remove the wash arms by lifting them clear of their supports and sliding them out. Clean them in a sink, opening the sliders to flush food soil from inside. Remove and empty the strainer baskets and pans, including the dual-rinse strainer. Scrub the strainers in a sink. Remove the dual-rinse and upper final-rinse arms and clear debris from their nozzles. The manual warns not to strike strainer pans or baskets against a solid object to dislodge debris and says never to use steel wool to clean the machine. Reinstall the cleaned components before operation.
Auto Clean, if equipped
The manual describes Auto Clean as an option and says the cycle is initiated from idle mode using the Auto Clean button. The operator begins the cycle at the keypad, follows the display prompts for the Master Drain and tank drains, cleans and replaces the strainers, opens the wash-arm sliders and closes the doors when prompted. During the cycle, wash pumps flush food soil from the wash arms, and Auto Clean nozzles wash chamber sections above the strainer pans. The manual gives an approximate cycle duration of 30 minutes. At the end, the display prompts the operator to complete the drain and tank-drain steps; the machine can then refill.
Preventive maintenance
The manual recommends that its preventive-maintenance checklist be completed every six months or as required by machine usage. It includes checking panels for damage and fit; confirming the unit is level; checking door hinge bearings, bottom door seals and door closure; and looking for steam leaks around the doors while the machine runs. Drain checks include inspecting for leaks, confirming drain-handle operation, and cleaning tank bottoms, pump-intake guards and drain-hub areas.
For the fill and final-rinse systems, the checklist includes inspecting for leaks, cleaning the photo-sensor receiver and emitter area, cleaning line strainers, cleaning final-rinse arms and nozzles, and verifying final-rinse temperature. The control-box checks include keypad buttons, load/unload switches, door switches, contactors and relays. Conveyor checks include oil or water leaks, wear or damage to conveyor parts, reverse-jog operation and anti-jam switch operation.
The manual says to clean water or steam line strainers one week after installation and periodically thereafter. It states that the motors have sealed bearings and need no lubrication maintenance. Check the conveyor gearmotor oil level every six months; replenish or replace it with Shell Omala S2 G220 or equivalent. Inspect the conveyor drive chain regularly and lubricate it as required with H2 food-grade lithium grease.
Troubleshooting
Use the displayed message and the manual’s checks to help identify the issue. Electrical and internal service work should be handled with the required power isolation and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Tanks will not fill: Check whether doors or drains are open and whether the main water-supply valve is closed. The manual also lists floats that do not move freely, a dirty line strainer restricting flow, a solenoid-valve problem and low incoming water pressure as possible causes. For a dirty strainer, it instructs the operator to turn off the water supply, remove the strainer cap, withdraw the screen and clean it. Contact Hobart Service if the tanks still have not filled after 20 minutes.
- “Door(s) Open” or “Tank Drain(s) Open” on the display: Close all inspection doors or tank drains, as applicable. If the machine is equipped with a drain-open interlock parameter, the manual says it can prevent operation while a tank drain is open.
- No final rinse: The service manual lists malfunctioning photo eyes or an inoperative final-rinse pump as possible causes. Continuous rinse operation can be associated with blocked or dirty photo eyes, malfunctioning photo eyes, a low dual-rinse tank level or an open dual-rinse drain.
- Final-rinse temperature below 180°F: For electric heat, the manual lists a tripped booster-heater circuit breaker, a tripped overtemperature device or a failed heater element. For steam heat, it lists a steam supply valve that is not fully open, low steam pressure, a malfunctioning steam-booster solenoid or a thermostat or temperature-probe problem. The manual also identifies building hot-water and final-rinse-pump issues among possible causes for applicable configurations.
- No blower-dryer heat: The manual lists blower-motor problems and a tripped electric-heater circuit breaker or overtemperature protector for electric heat. For steam heat, it lists a blower-motor problem, a steam solenoid issue, a steam supply valve that is not fully open or low supply pressure, and a bucket-trap problem.
- Rinse quality or rinsing problems: The manual identifies a dirty line strainer, rinse nozzles that are obstructed or not properly inserted, blocked dual-rinse nozzles or a clogged dual-rinse strainer pan as possible causes. For spotted ware, it also lists incorrect loading, low final-rinse temperature, incorrect detergent or rinse-aid dosage, water hardness above the manual’s recommended level, misaligned rinse nozzles and a leaking rinse-manifold O-ring.
Applications
The FT1000e-ADV is a flight-type commercial dishwasher suited to foodservice operations that handle ware on a conveyor. The manual identifies dual rinse. The conveyor format is relevant to institutional and commercial kitchens processing ware through repeated wash cycles; the appropriate fit depends on the operation’s ware volume, site utilities and machine configuration.
