Installation & Requirements

The specification sheet gives a machine footprint of 48 × 24 in. and a height of 29 in. It calls for 6 in. of space at the left, back and right sides for ventilation and utility connections. Air-cooled units have intake and exhaust air paths identified on the dimensional drawing. Confirm the precise model suffix and cooling configuration before planning electrical and utility connections, because the specification sheet lists different single-phase and three-phase models as well as air-, water- and remote-cooled configurations.

The sheet lists 3/4 in. FPT connections for machine water inlet and machine drain. Water-cooled versions also have 3/8 in. FPT condenser inlet and outlet connections. Remote-cooled configurations use the stated liquid and discharge line connections; Scotsman lists precharged R-404A line sets in 10, 25, 40 and 75 ft lengths as accessories. The machine electrical supply shown for the listed North American models is 208–230 V, 60 Hz, with single- or three-phase configurations. The drawing also identifies a 3/4 in. FPT bin drain.

Operation

The C1448 produces medium or small cube ice and transfers harvested cubes toward the storage bin with its Harvest Assist feature. AutoAlert lights communicate machine status and indicate when attention such as descaling or sanitizing is needed. The machine has a diagnostic code display; the specification sheet says the optional Smart-Board can provide additional operational data for early alerts and diagnosis, with data display on-screen or remote transmission described for that option. Vari-Smart is an optional ultrasonic sensor for setting ice levels in the bin for up to 7 days.

Scotsman says AutoAlert lights signal when it is time to descale, sanitize and attend to other maintenance. One-touch cleaning is listed as a feature intended to reduce cleaning time and labour. WaterSense adaptive purge control automatically reduces scale buildup, and the reusable air filter can be removed from the outside for service.
