About the Traulsen G20011
Overview
The Traulsen G20011 is a two-section, solid-door reach-in refrigerator in the G-Series Dealer’s Choice line. It has two full-height doors, hinged right and left, and a stated capacity of 46.0 cu. ft. A separate G-Series operation manual lists 44.0 cu. ft. as the net capacity for a two-section cabinet; the two figures refer to different capacity descriptions.
The refrigerator uses a self-contained, balanced refrigeration system mounted on top of the cabinet. A microprocessor control with an LED display provides temperature control. The G20011 is listed with R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant, and the manufacturer description identifies ENERGY STAR®, ETL-Sanitation and cETLus listings.
Key Features
- Two-section storage: Six factory-installed epoxy-coated shelves, with three shelves in each section. The wire shelf design promotes air circulation, and the coating resists corrosion.
- Door operation: Two full-height stainless steel doors have locks, self-closing action and a stay-open feature at 120 degrees. The doors are described as staying open past 120 degrees.
- Temperature visibility: The microprocessor control has an LED temperature readout. Interior LED lights activate automatically for product visibility.
- Refrigeration layout: The large, high-humidity evaporator is outside the food zone, and a thermostatic expansion valve meters refrigerant. The product listing states that this arrangement supports usable cabinet space and refrigeration recovery.
- Construction: Stainless steel front and doors, with anodized aluminum sides and interior. The one-piece anodized aluminum interior is described as resisting dents and dings.
- Additional details: Load-Sure Guard helps address improper loading; magnetic EZ-Clean door gaskets snap into place. The non-electric automatic condensate evaporator is listed as an energy-saving feature.
- Mobility: Four 6-inch-diameter locking casters are included; the listing notes that casters require installation by the end user.

Installation & Requirements
The G-Series operation manual says to locate the unit away from extreme heat or cold. It calls for either at least 12 inches of clearance above the condensing unit or unrestricted airflow at the back. The manual also notes that 12 inches of overhead clearance is required for certain maintenance tasks.
The G20011 product listing specifies a cord and plug. The manual says to use a grounded outlet, not to remove the grounding prong and not to use an extension cord. Check that the available supply voltage matches the unit’s serial tag before connecting power; electrical work should follow local codes and be performed by qualified electricians. The G-Series manual locates the ON/OFF toggle switch on top of the unit, beside the evaporator housing, and says it is shipped in the ON position.
Allow enough side clearance for the doors’ stay-open feature. The manual says the doors must open at least 90 degrees to provide the maximum clear door width. The G20011 product listing notes that the casters must be installed by the end user.
Operation
The G-Series manual describes refrigerators as circulating above-freezing cabinet air through the coil. They do not require manual defrosting during normal operation: the compressor has an off cycle each hour to melt frost that may collect on the coil. The control displays “dEF” during this off-cycle defrost, which the manual says generally lasts 3–10 minutes.
The control’s high and low thermostat set points define the cabinet temperature range. The manual gives typical refrigerator settings of 36–40°F for the high set point and 32–34°F for the low set point. These settings are factory preset. The manual says the two set points cannot be identical and must differ by at least 1–2 degrees.
To access customer parameters on the manual’s G-Series microprocessor control, press Set, select Customer/Service Access and press Set again. Enter the code 0, A, 1 using the arrow and Set buttons: advance through the flashing digit positions, select A for the centre digit and 1 for the right digit, confirming each with Set. When the display shows Thermostat Set Point High, use the arrow keys to scroll through the customer parameters. For either set point, press Set at the parameter, adjust with the arrow keys and press Set to save. The control returns to normal operation after about 30 seconds if left idle.
Other parameters listed in the manual include temperature scale, 24-hour clock, date, daylight savings time, defrost lockouts, room-temperature offset, evaporator coil sensor temperature, cabinet air temperature and Start Manual Defrost. The sensor temperature displays are for viewing; the manual says those readings cannot be adjusted.
Cleaning & Maintenance
The operation manual identifies regular condenser-coil cleaning as important for reliable service and efficient operation. Disconnect electrical power before cleaning. To access the condenser, remove the two screws at the bottom of the front louver assembly, then pivot the louver upward. The manual describes the condenser as front-facing and says to keep lint and dust accumulation off the coil.
For the stainless steel exterior, use warm water, mild soap and a soft cloth. Wipe in the direction of the metal grain. Avoid strong detergents and gritty or abrasive cleaners, which can mar or scratch the surface; do not use chlorine-containing cleansers, which may promote corrosion. The G-Series service manual also says to inspect door gaskets every three months, clean them with mild soap and water, avoid cleaners containing chlorine or chlorides, and replace gaskets as needed.
Troubleshooting
If the condensing unit does not start, the operation manual recommends checking whether the cord and plug are disconnected and checking the control temperature setting. If the unit runs for prolonged periods or continuously, check whether the doors close properly, whether the condenser or filter is dirty, and whether the evaporator coil is iced. The manual directs operators to call for service if refrigerant is short.
If the food compartment is too warm, check the door and gasket seals, condenser cleanliness and control setting. A large quantity of warm food or a door left open for a long time can require additional recovery time. If the compartment is too cold, the manual notes that recently added very cold or frozen food may be a factor; allow the cabinet time to recover.
For a refrigerator coil that needs defrosting, the manual describes a manual defrost control parameter. From the customer parameters, scroll to Start Manual Defrost, press Set, change the displayed OFF setting to ON with an arrow key, and press Set. The defrost icon lights and the display reads “dEF” while the unit is in defrost. Manual defrost is not normally required for refrigerator operation.
Applications
The G20011’s two sections and six shelves provide organised refrigerated storage for commercial kitchens, including restaurant back-of-house areas, institutional kitchens and food-preparation spaces. Its solid doors suit storage layouts where a view of the cabinet contents from outside is not needed.
