About the Atosa MWSSH01

Overview

The Atosa MWSSH01 is the S-hook made for Atosa's wire shelving system - a galvanized steel hook in gray, supplied 8 per pack. Atosa lists it as an optional accessory on the spec sheets for its Slate Grey Epoxy Coated Shelving Kits (MWSSE series, related models), alongside the MWSLS01 double locking sleeves and the MWSC5 collar casters. The hook also appears in the parts drawings of Atosa's official wire shelving assembly instructions, where it is identified simply as an "S Hook - Galvanized Steel Hook."

One part number therefore covers hanging storage across the entire epoxy shelving line: four-shelf kits on 74" posts and five-shelf kits on 86" posts, in 18" and 24" depths with shelf widths from 24" to 72".

Key Features

  • Galvanized steel construction. Galvanized steel is the material Atosa specifies for this hook in its assembly documentation - a utilitarian finish for back-of-house storage.
  • Gray color. Supplied in gray, consistent with the slate gray look of the epoxy shelving it serves.
  • 8 hooks per pack. Atosa's packaging note is explicit: "MWSSH01 - 8 each per pack." By comparison, MWSLS01 double locking sleeves are packed 20 each.
  • Listed accessory, not a generic add-on. The MWSSH01 is named on the spec sheets for every kit in the shelving family and shown in the assembly instructions' parts drawings as an optional accessory.
  • No dedicated fitting steps. Like any S-hook, it simply hangs on the shelving - the assembly manual lists it as an accessory without a separate installation sequence.

Installation & Requirements

Atosa's wire shelving assembly instructions show the S-hook among the optional parts - the parts drawings list wire shelves, posts, locking sleeves, casters and the S-hook. The hook needs no dedicated fitting sequence; the manual's assembly steps cover the shelving the hooks are used on:

  • Starter units: screw a foot into the bottom of each post first, and repeat for all four feet.
  • Mobile units: push each post into a MWSC5 caster, tighten it with a hex wrench, repeat for all four casters, and check that every caster fits the post well.
  • Bottom shelf: Atosa recommends installing it no more than 6 inches from the floor for added stability.
  • Shelf positioning: snap two tapered sleeves labeled "UP" onto each post at the chosen height - a slight gap between the two sleeve pieces is normal - then push the shelf firmly onto the sleeves; a rubber mallet can gently tap each corner if a shelf needs to seat fully.
  • Levelling: adjust the hex nuts or the feet until the unit is perfectly level, and use leg levelers if needed to make the unit level or flush against the wall.
  • Receiving: inspect the products and file a claim with the delivering carrier if there is damage.

Operation

The load rules in Atosa's instructions govern everything stored or hung on the shelving: overall weight capacity is 1200 lbs per unit, and each shelf must not exceed its per-model capacity from the chart (450-600 lbs across the kit line). Heavy objects should never be dropped onto the shelves from a distance - place them carefully. Atosa does not publish a per-hook load rating for the MWSSH01, so keep the combined weight of hung items within the shelving's stated capacities. Shelf positions can be reset at any time in 1-inch increments by re-snapping the tapered sleeves on the numbered posts.

Applications

S-hooks are among the simplest additions to wire shelving, and commercial kitchens put them to work constantly:

  • Hanging utensils, pans or small tools from shelving near prep areas so they stay off work surfaces and within reach
  • Keeping bags, aprons or cords off the floor in dry storage rooms
  • Organizing back-of-house storage in restaurants, cafeterias, bakeries and institutional kitchens running Atosa's epoxy shelving
  • Adding hanging points to a mobile unit - pair the shelving with MWSC5 casters (300 lbs per caster) if it needs to roll
