About the Bunn CRESCENDO
Overview
The BUNN CRESCENDO (product number 44300.0201) is a commercial bean-to-cup espresso machine that grinds whole beans and prepares espresso and café-style beverages from a front-facing dispense area. Precision burrs mill the beans, and a variable brew group produces single or double espresso shots at 9-bar pressure. The shots finish with crema, while three powder hoppers supply ingredients for additional beverage choices. The machine is engineered and assembled by BUNN in the USA.
A touchpad provides up to nine beverage choices, two programmable portion sizes and a hot water button. A prominent 2.2 lb (1 kg) bean hopper keeps the whole beans visible. Spent pucks fall automatically into a holding bin with a 70-puck capacity; an optional through-counter chute can divert them instead.
Key Features
- Whole-bean espresso: Precision burrs mill beans, and 9-bar pressure supports espresso extraction through a variable brew group for single or double shots.
- Three powder hoppers: Two hoppers hold 3.3 lb (1.5 kg) each for higher-demand flavours, and a third holds 2.2 lb (1 kg) for another selection.
- Programmable selections: The touchpad offers up to nine beverage choices, two programmable portion sizes of 8 to 12 oz (230 to 350 ml) each, and a hot water button.
- Automatic puck handling: Used pucks collect in a 70-puck bin, or can be sent through an optional counter chute.
- Dispense area: The high-visibility nozzle defines a 5.5 in (140.5 mm) dispense height.
- Ingredient dosing: Adjustable-speed auger motors portion ingredients.
- Optional selection method: Optional VirtualTOUCH technology lets users hover a finger over a button to make a selection.

Installation & Requirements
The CRESCENDO requires a 120V, 60Hz electrical supply and a direct water connection. Its attached cord has a NEMA 5-15P plug. The manufacturer lists a water pressure range of 20–90 PSI (138–621 kPa), a supplied 3/4 in BSPP fitting and a required water flow of 0.50 GPM. The production figure is specified with 60°F (15.5°C) input water. The available product information does not state clearance, gas or ventilation requirements.
Operation
Use the touchpad to select from up to nine beverage choices, choose one of the two programmable portion sizes, or request hot water. Each portion can be programmed from 8 to 12 oz (230 to 350 ml). The bean hopper holds whole beans for grinding, while the three powder hoppers supply additional beverage ingredients. Adjustable-speed auger motors portion those ingredients. Espresso is extracted at 9 bar through the variable brew group, which prepares single or double shots.
For a rinse cycle, place a container with at least 400 ml capacity under the nozzle and move the NORMAL/PROGRAM/RINSE switch to RINSE. Select RINSE on the screen, then press any beverage selection button. The machine runs hot water through both soluble mixing chambers and flushes the espresso brew chamber. When the cycle finishes, discard the collected rinse water and return the switch to NORMAL.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Daily exterior and drip tray cleaning
For exterior surfaces, BUNN recommends a damp cloth rinsed in mild, non-abrasive liquid detergent. Wipe the lower front panel, door and cabinet with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive materials. Stainless steel surfaces can be washed with warm, soapy water and rinsed with warm, clear water. If the water is hard, dry the surfaces with a soft cloth to help prevent water spotting. Stainless steel polish may be sprayed onto a cloth before wiping the machine; do not spray it directly onto the exterior. Remove the drip tray and cover, wash them in mild detergent solution, and rinse thoroughly. Remove and wash the waste bin in mild detergent solution, then rinse it thoroughly.
Weekly rinse and cleaning cycles
The rinse cycle flushes the soluble mixing chambers and espresso brew chamber with hot water. For the cleaning cycle, select CLEAN on the screen and follow the tablet prompt. Place a cleaning tablet in the opening above the espresso brew chamber. Press NEXT when prompted, place a container with at least 500 ml capacity under the dispense nozzle, and press a beverage selection button when the screen displays PRESS DISPENSE TO START. The machine displays a cleaning-in-progress message while the cycle runs. Discard the collected waste water when the cycle is complete.
Weekly removable-part washing
For whipper components, close the hopper slide gates before removing the hoppers. Remove the mixing chambers, frother disks, bases, elbow fittings and dispense tubes as applicable. Use the cleaning brush on the dispense-tube connector area. Wash the removable parts, rinse them thoroughly, then soak them for five minutes in sanitizing solution prepared with at least 100 ppm available chlorine in 120°F (48.9°C) water. Allow the parts to air dry. Rinse the brush, dip it in sanitizing solution and brush the bores of the dispense nozzles, using a separate cleaning pass for each nozzle. When reassembling, check that the O-ring and shaft seal are in place, align the frother-disk arrows with the flat sides of the whipper motor shafts, and lock the whipper bases in position. Replace the dispense tubes and confirm they are not kinked.
For hopper components, close the slide gates, remove the hoppers and empty product into a separate clean container. Remove the dispense elbows, rear auger nuts, augers, rear auger bearings and mixing wheels. Clean the parts in a three-compartment sink without abrasive materials, rinse thoroughly, and soak them for five minutes in sanitizing solution prepared with at least 100 ppm available chlorine in 120°F (48.9°C) water. Allow the parts to air dry, reassemble each hopper and refill it. When reinstalling, make sure the auger and hopper locator peg are seated correctly.
Espresso brew chamber
Clean the espresso brew chamber every two weeks or every 1,000 cycles. Remove the chamber from the espresso drive by disconnecting its water inlet and outlet tubes and releasing the red lock. Separate the sieve head and cake pusher. Brush the espresso drive gears, brew-chamber housing and gear channels, paying attention to the channels. Clean the cake pusher and sieve head in warm water, rinse all parts with lukewarm water only, and leave them to air dry. To reassemble, confirm the gears are aligned and their slots are open, fit the cake pusher into its channels, and push the sieve head into the gear opening. Align the cake-pusher tabs with the sieve-head slots and press the parts forward until seated. Reattach the chamber to the espresso drive, reconnect both tubes, lock the red slide, return the switch to NORMAL and close the door.
Applications
The CRESCENDO is suited to commercial foodservice and hospitality settings that want bean-to-cup espresso alongside a selection of café-style drinks and hot water. Its visible bean hopper, multiple powder hoppers, programmable portions and automatic puck collection support a self-contained beverage station in a café, restaurant, hotel or workplace.
