About the Hobart LXGeR
Overview
The Hobart LXGeR is an undercounter glasswasher with hot-water sanitizing and a fresh-water rinse. It uses an internal energy recovery unit and a built-in booster heater capable of a 70°F rise. The manual recommends incoming water between 55°F and 80°F; the spec-sheet installation information gives a recommended cold-water supply range of 55°F to 85°F. The LXGeR includes electronic controls, a drain pump, a rinse pump, chemical pumps, a fill hose, a drain hose and one glass/wine rack.
For service planning, the supplied specifications list up to 30 racks per hour, 0.62 gallons of water per rack and cycle times of 120–146 seconds. The machine is intended for commercial glassware washing, including glass and wine racks used in restaurant and bar dishrooms.
Key Features
- Energy recovery: An internal energy recovery unit is part of the LXGeR.
- Booster heating: The built-in booster heater is capable of a 70°F rise.
- Fresh-water rinse: The rinse system uses fresh water and is pump-assisted.
- Water efficiency: Water consumption is listed at 0.62 gallons per rack.
- Included equipment: The manual lists electronic controls, drain and rinse pumps, chemical pumps, fill and drain hoses, and one glass/wine rack.
- Service and operator functions: The manual describes service diagnostics, chemical alerts, a wash-arm alarm, a dirty-water indicator, an energy-saver mode, and a delime reminder that can be configured through Manager Mode.

Installation & Requirements
Installation should be carried out by qualified personnel. The manual states that electrical and grounding connections must comply with applicable electrical requirements and local codes, and that plumbing connections must comply with applicable sanitary, safety and plumbing codes. Confirm the available electrical supply against the machine data plate before installation. The listed supply is 120/208–240 V, 60 Hz, single phase, with 30.5 A shown in the supplied specifications.
The LXGeR requires a cold-water supply. The manual gives a recommended incoming range of 55°F to 80°F, while the spec-sheet connection details list 55°F to 85°F. Required flowing water pressure is 15–65 psi. The manual warns that pressure below 15 psi can cause improper operation. If pressure exceeds 65 psi, it calls for a pressure regulator with a relief bypass. A manual shutoff valve upstream of the fill hose is recommended for servicing, and the manual recommends a line strainer in the supply line.
The supplied fill hose is 6 feet long and has a 3/4-inch female garden-hose fitting. The drain connection is a 5/8-inch barb on the supplied 6-foot drain hose. The manual states that the drain must have a minimum flow capacity of 5 gallons per minute and cautions against kinking the drain hose. It also calls for a water-hammer arrester on the common water supply at the connection point and recommends water hardness of 3 grains per U.S. gallon or less for best results.
Steam or humid air can escape at the door during operation. The manual recommends moisture-resistant surfaces beside and above the glasswasher. It says a ventilation hood is not recommended over an undercounter unit because steam emissions are not excessive.
Operation
Before starting, make sure the coarse and fine strainers are installed and free of debris. The manual specifies that the coarse strainer handle faces the front of the machine. Check that the wash and rinse arms are clear and spin freely, and replenish detergent, rinse aid or other required chemicals as needed. Use commercial-type detergent recommended by a chemical professional.
The manual describes wash, drain, rinse, dwell and condensation stages. It lists a 56-second wash, a drain of up to 18 seconds, an 8-second rinse, a 5-second dwell and condensation of up to 105 seconds for the LXGeR. It also notes that wash time can vary with operating voltage and incoming water temperature. The supplied specifications list overall cycle times of 120–146 seconds.
Manager Mode is used to change configurable parameters. The provided programming card gives the Manager security code as 1001 and describes settings for detergent and rinse-aid pumps, cycle time, low-temperature alarms, wash-arm alarms, delime reminders, temperature units, dirty-water alerts, energy-saver mode, chemical alerts, end-of-cycle audio alerts, language and the configurable button. The card also describes a “Delime Now” option; a delime cycle takes 20–45 minutes depending on conditions.
Cleaning & Maintenance
The manual requires cleaning at least once each working day. At the end of service, press POWER and allow the machine to drain. When the display goes dark, open the door and remove debris from the bottom of the tank. Do not allow food soil to build up in the tank.
Remove the lower rinse arm by pressing the buttons on the sides of its centre hub and pulling it off. Pull the lower wash arm off its shaft. Remove the upper wash and rinse arms in the same manner, then take out the coarse and fine strainers. Clean these parts in a sink and clear debris from the wash- and rinse-arm nozzles. Wipe the interior with a damp cloth using products formulated for stainless steel. Do not use steel wool. The manual advises rinsing and drying the machine at the end of the day and leaving the door open.
Inspect the interior for lime deposits. The Manager Mode programming card explains how to initiate a delime cycle when needed. The pump motor has permanently sealed bearings and requires no lubrication. Use only the chemical products and concentrations recommended by the chemical supplier; the manual cautions against exceeding the manufacturer’s recommended concentrations for detergent, sanitizer, rinse aid or lime-scale remover.
Troubleshooting
If the machine has no display and does not operate, the manual lists these checks: confirm the machine is switched on, check for a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker at the power supply, and make sure the cord is plugged in on corded models. If the display reads “DOOR OPEN,” open and close the door. If the message remains, contact a Hobart service office.
If glasses are not clean, check for clogged strainers that restrict water to the pump, obstructions in the wash arms, arms that do not turn freely, a clogged detergent dispenser, excessive soil, incorrect rack loading or low water supply. The manual also identifies low water temperature as a possible cause and advises checking the displayed wash temperature during the wash stage. If a problem persists after the listed checks, the manual says service may be required.
The manual also identifies drain, sump-level and booster-level errors. A drain error occurs if the water level will not rise; the machine will not operate and will allow only power-down. Sump- or booster-level sensor errors indicate that a pressure switch is out of range; the manual likewise directs the operator to service when these errors appear.
Applications
The LXGeR is suited to commercial dishrooms that need to wash glassware in an undercounter footprint. Its supplied glass/wine rack supports glassware service in settings such as restaurants and bars, while the listed capacity of up to 30 racks per hour provides a useful reference for planning dishroom workflow.
