About the Hobart LXGH
Overview
The Hobart LXGH is a fully automatic, front-loading glasswasher in Hobart’s LXG Series. The manual describes the series as suited to undercounter use in close quarters where a short door is advantageous. Model LXGH uses a fresh-water rinse and a built-in booster heater: the manual states that a 140°F incoming water supply is heated to 180°F in the booster.
The LXG Series uses 1.2 gallons of water per rack and has a 3/4 HP electric motor. The LXGH is identified as model ML-110381 in the manual and parts catalog. The manual also lists an earlier LXGH model, ML-110890, with a 2-inch-diameter caster base.
Key Features
- Fully automatic, front-loading operation for undercounter use.
- Fresh-water rinse with a built-in booster heater; the manual specifies heating incoming water from 140°F to 180°F.
- Electronic controls and a pumped drain.
- Liquid detergent and rinse-agent dispensing pumps. The chemical-sanitizer pump described in the manual is for model LXGC only, not LXGH.
- Two standard 20" x 20" racks are included.
- Automatic shutdown four hours after the last use, to conserve energy.
- A 2-inch-diameter caster base is listed as an available accessory.

Installation & Requirements
Check the machine data plate before installation to confirm that the electrical service matches the unit. The manual directs installers to use stranded copper wire rated for 90°C and to follow the data plate and the label inside the controls drawer for power-connection information. The electrical and grounding connections must comply with applicable electrical codes. The manual describes a connection through 1-inch trade-size conduit and calls for 32 to 36 inches of wire from the conduit fitting, through the strain relief, to the terminal block. It also instructs installers to connect the wires and ground according to the wiring diagram.
For the water supply, the manual specifies a minimum water temperature of 140°F and flowing pressure of 15–25 psig. If flowing pressure is above 25 psig, it calls for a pressure-reducing valve with a relief bypass; pressure below 15 psig may cause improper operation. The recommended water hardness is 4–6 grains per gallon. A water-hammer arrestor meeting ASSE-1010 or equivalent is recommended. The manual calls for a manual shutoff valve upstream of the fill hose and recommends a line strainer between the shutoff valve and the machine.
Make the water connection using copper piping with a minimum 1/2-inch outside diameter; 3/4-inch outside diameter is recommended. Terminate with a 3/4-inch male garden-hose fitting. Flush water lines thoroughly before connecting the glasswasher to remove debris that could foul plumbing components. The supplied drain hose has a 3/4-inch pipe-connection adapter and must be connected securely to the sink drain without kinks. The drain must have a minimum flow capacity of 10 gallons per minute.
The manual notes that iron in the water supply can cause staining and recommends an iron filter if iron concentration exceeds 0.1 part per million. High chloride levels can cause pitting; a chloride-removal system is required if levels exceed 50 parts per million. It recommends considering in-line water treatment if mineral build-up occurs. Plumbing connections must comply with applicable sanitary, safety, and plumbing codes.
Operation
The LXGH operates through wash, drain, dwell, rinse, and dwell stages. The manual gives a wash time of 55 seconds, a maximum drain time of 10 seconds, a 4-second dwell, a 10-second rinse, and a final 6-second dwell. The drain removes about 1 gallon of water. The manual specifies that the booster heats the 140°F incoming water supply to 180°F for the fresh-water rinse.
Use detergent and rinse agent in their designated containers and follow the chemical professional’s instructions. The manual advises using only detergents recommended by a chemical professional and not using detergent formulated for residential dishwashers. Do not exceed the chemical manufacturer’s recommended concentrations. Scrape ware before loading and arrange it correctly in the racks; the manual identifies excess soil and improper rack loading as possible causes of poor washing results.
The glasswasher shuts down automatically four hours after its last use. To turn it off manually, press OFF. The machine drains, and its display goes dark when it has completed that shutdown sequence.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Clean the machine after each day’s use or between duty cycles. Press OFF and allow the machine to drain. When the display is no longer lit, open the door and remove debris from the tank bottom. Remove the lower rinse arm by unscrewing its knurled knob, then pull the lower wash arm from its shaft. Remove the upper rinse and wash arms in the same manner. Remove the coarse and fine strainers and clean these items in a sink.
Wipe the machine interior, water-level probes, and the water-level probe beneath the fine strainer with a damp cloth. Wipe the exterior and the lip at the bottom of the door. For remaining debris, use a mild cleanser formulated for stainless steel and a soft cloth or brush. Do not use steel wool. Clean the control keypad and display with a soft, damp cloth or sponge and mild cleanser; do not use abrasive or harsh cleaners or scouring pads.
Replace the coarse and fine strainers. Reinstall the lower wash arm by pushing it onto the shaft, then place the lower rinse arm on the shaft and tighten the knurled knob. Repeat for the upper arms. Spin the arms to check that they turn freely. Leave the door ajar overnight to let the interior air out and dry.
The manual recommends keeping water hardness within its stated range, pre-scraping ware, and following the chemical professional’s deliming schedule. Do not let food soil accumulate on the tank bottom, use steel wool on ware or the machine, or allow foreign objects—especially metallic contaminants—to enter the unit. The pump motor has permanently sealed bearings and requires no lubrication. The manual cautions that failure to follow use, care, and maintenance instructions may void the Hobart warewasher warranty.
Troubleshooting
For a temperature-probe problem, the display flashes P1, P2, or P3 every ten seconds. The associated heaters shut down while other functions continue. The manual directs the operator to contact Service. Drain and fill errors appear as E0, E2, E3, E4, E5, E6, or E7. The controller stops current-cycle operations, turns off all heaters, and displays the error until OFF is pressed. The machine does not drain when turned off. The manual directs operators to its troubleshooting guidance and to contact Service if the problem persists.
Machine does not start
- If there is no display, check whether the machine is OFF, whether a fuse has blown or a circuit breaker is off, and whether a cord-and-plug installation has an unplugged cord.
- If the display shows “dr” followed by “oP,” open and close the door. Contact Service if the message remains.
Glasses are not clean or have spots
- Clean clogged strainers and the sump; remove obstructions from wash or rinse arms and check that the arms spin freely.
- Check whether the detergent dispenser is clogged, the ware was scraped, and the rack was loaded correctly.
- Check water pressure and confirm that the incoming water supply is on. The manual says wash temperature during WASH should be above 150°F for machines other than chemical-sanitizing machines.
- For spotting, check rack loading, water temperature, detergent type and concentration, water hardness, and the rinse-agent container. The manual recommends installing a water softener for hard water.
Chemicals are not feeding
- Check that chemical containers are not empty, feeder-hose connections are snug, and delivery tubes are not kinked.
Machine does not fill or does not fill completely
- The manual associates E0, E2, E3, and E4 with this symptom. Check for low water pressure or a clogged hose strainer, clean the probes, and confirm that the main water-supply valves are working.
- If the drain valve may be obstructed, the manual describes turning the machine OFF and back ON twice, then waiting for READY before pressing WASH. It gives further checks for whether the water level remains steady and advises contacting Service if the problem persists.
Machine overfills, leaks, or does not drain
- If the unit is not level, refer to the manual’s leveling instructions. If water continues flowing through the rinse arms after the machine is turned off, the fill solenoid valve may be leaking; contact Service.
- For a drain problem, check the drain line for kinks and confirm that the plumbing allows the required drain rate. The manual associates a machine that will not drain with E5.
The manual says it is normal for the drain valve to operate several times after the machine has been turned off and drained as it attempts to clear obstructions.
Applications
The LXGH is suited to commercial kitchens that need an undercounter glasswasher in a close-quarters location. Its supplied 20" x 20" racks and the manual’s troubleshooting guidance for glasses, mugs, and flatware make it relevant to glassware and other compatible warewashing needs. Load ware according to the manual’s rack-preparation instructions and scrape off food soils before washing.
