About the Atosa ATHOM-39
Overview
The Atosa ATHOM-39 is a floor-model open air merchandiser for displaying and selling pre-chilled products. Its open-front format gives customers access to merchandise while the glass front and side panels frame the display. A black exterior and stainless steel interior suit customer-facing areas such as cafés, convenience stores and food retail spaces.
The unit has 6.18 cu. ft. of capacity and comes with one stainless steel shelf and one floor shelf. Pre-installed casters make it possible to move the cabinet into position; the manual instructs operators to lock the front caster brakes or adjust the leveling feet once the unit is placed. A top mount dry display case is listed as an optional accessory, not as standard equipment.
Key Features
- Temperature control: Digital temperature controller and display. Atosa recommends setting the refrigerator between 35°F and 38°F for food preservation.
- Display construction: Black exterior, stainless steel interior, and glass front and side panels.
- Interior lighting: LED lighting under the shelf and at the interior top.
- Shelves: One stainless steel shelf and one floor shelf. The manual lists a maximum shelf load of 66 lb. (30 kg) for the ATHOM-39.
- Mobility: Pre-installed casters, with front caster brakes identified in the manual.
- Optional accessory: Top mount dry display case.

Dimension note: The manual’s major technical parameters table separately lists overall dimensions of 39.1 × 34.4 × 41.2 in. The specification sheet lists 39 3/8 × 34 5/8 × 44 3/8 in. Confirm the unit’s nameplate and current manufacturer documentation when planning a fit.
Installation & Requirements
The manual specifies indoor use only. Place the merchandiser on a flat, stable surface in a dry, well-ventilated location. It calls for at least 4 in. (10 cm) of clearance on both sides and between the back of the unit and a nearby wall or object. The manual cautions that insufficient clearance can reduce refrigeration efficiency. Keep the cabinet out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources or heaters, which can also reduce cooling performance.
After positioning the unit, lock the front caster brakes or adjust the leveling feet so the cabinet is stable. The manual says to let the unit sit for at least 2 hours after installation before connecting power. Do not tilt it beyond 45 degrees while handling or installing it. The glass components are fragile and should be handled carefully.
The specification sheet gives an electrical rating of 115 V, 60 Hz, single phase, with a NEMA 5-20P plug. The manual specifies a 110V–120V single-phase AC supply and a dedicated, properly grounded three-pin receptacle. Do not share the outlet with another appliance; the manual warns that this can overheat the power cable. It also advises against adapters and extension cords. Check that the facility supply matches the unit’s nameplate before plugging it in. There is no gas connection listed for this model.
Operation
Before first use, clean the interior components, including the bottom cover plate and shelves. The manual directs operators to turn on the lighting switch and check that the shelf lights work, then turn on the refrigeration switch to start the cooling system. Run the empty merchandiser for 24 hours before loading it. Load only pre-chilled products and monitor the cabinet temperature; the manual warns not to break the cold chain.
Atosa recommends a 35°F–38°F setting for food preservation. The manual separately states that, under normal operation, the product line maintains an internal temperature range of 34°F–45°F in its precautions section and gives 33°F–45°F in its technical parameters. Do not treat the recommended set point and the full operating range as the same specification.
To change the set point, press and hold the SET key for more than 2 seconds until the current value appears and the °C or °F indicator blinks. Use the up or down button within 10 seconds to adjust the value. Press SET again to save, or wait 10 seconds. The manual also describes a programming mode for parameters: press SET and the down button together for 3 seconds, press SET to view a parameter, use the up or down button to change it, then press SET to store and move on. Exit by pressing SET and the up button together or by waiting 15 seconds. The manual notes that a changed value is saved when the timeout expires.
Do not put hot food into the cabinet, block air inlets or outlets, or allow products to contact the side glass; the manual identifies these as factors that can affect cooling. This merchandiser is intended for beverages, dairy products, vegetables and fruits, and the manual says not to use it for other purposes or store medicine in it. If it is unplugged or power is interrupted, wait at least 5 minutes before reconnecting it. A slight temperature rise during defrosting is described as normal, with temperature returning to its normal range after defrosting.
Cleaning & Maintenance
The manual calls for cleaning the equipment at least once a week. Disconnect the power before cleaning. Use mild water and a neutral or non-corrosive detergent; do not spray or pour water directly on the cabinet or wash it with running water from a faucet. Wipe away detergent residue thoroughly with a clean cloth and let the unit dry completely before returning it to operation.
Clean the condenser at least once a month. The manual’s procedure is to remove the bottom front panel screws with a Phillips screwdriver and detach the panel, then use a vacuum cleaner with a wand attachment and a soft, non-metallic brush to remove dust and debris from the coils. Do not bend the coil fins. Wear gloves and protective eyewear when working near the fins and dust. Disconnect power before cleaning, and have a qualified professional handle servicing or component replacement.
Do not apply hot water to cold glass, since the manual warns that rapid temperature change can break it; allow the glass to warm gradually first. If exterior condensation forms during humid weather, wipe it away with a dry cloth. The manual advises contacting a qualified technician if there are unusual noises, odours or smoke, and says not to restart the unit until the issue is resolved. It also says to disconnect power before servicing electrical components.
Troubleshooting
For a not-cooling-properly complaint, the troubleshooting table lists a temperature-controller error code, a loose wire and an iced evaporator coil as possible causes. For a controller error code, the table says to call the service centre to adjust it. For a loose wire, it says to check the wiring fault. The provided manual excerpt does not show a complete corrective step for an iced evaporator coil, so contact a qualified service professional rather than relying on an incomplete instruction.
The manual also directs operators to disconnect power and contact a qualified technician if unusual noises, odours or smoke occur. Do not restart the cabinet until the issue has been fully resolved.
Applications
The manual identifies beverages, dairy products, vegetables and fruits as intended display products, provided they are pre-chilled. This format can suit customer-accessible refrigerated displays in cafés, convenience stores and food retail environments. The open-front layout supports self-service access, while the shelf and floor provide two display levels. The unit is for indoor use and is not intended for medicine storage.
