About the Bunn CWT15-APS
Overview
The Bunn CWT15-APS is a commercial airpot coffee brewer that dispenses brewed coffee into an airpot positioned beneath its brew funnel. The airpot can then be carried to a remote meeting room, breakfast bar or another service area. The brewer accepts airpots in the stated 1.9–3.8 L range; the airpot is sold separately.
This is an automatic model with a direct water connection, and it also has a pour-over feature. Its digital timer allows users to adjust the brew cycle from the front panel. The CWT15-APS is an APS model; the Bunn operating guide identifies APS as an airpot server configuration without warmers.
Key Features
- Airpot brewing: Brews directly into 1.9–3.8 L airpots, which can be moved for service away from the brewer.
- Production rate: Listed to brew 4.2–7.5 gallons (15.9–28.4 L) of coffee per hour.
- Water options: A 1/4-inch direct water connection is specified, and a pour-over feature is included on automatic models.
- Adjustable brew cycle: A digital timer enables brew-cycle adjustments from the front panel.
- Funnel choice: A gourmet funnel model is available for heavier coffee throw weights. The product listing identifies a plastic funnel for this model.
- Airpot not included: Airpots are sold separately.

Installation & Requirements
The product information specifies a 1/4-inch direct water connection. The operating guide says the brewer must be connected to a working water supply for the faucet to operate; this model's product listing identifies it as an automatic brewer requiring a water hookup. The guide describes the equipment as intended for indoor use on a sturdy counter.
For electrical planning, this model is listed at 120V, 11.4 amps and 1,370 watts. Confirm the site supply and connection suit those stated requirements. The supplied sources do not give clearance dimensions, ventilation requirements or further installation measurements, so none are specified here.
Operation
Prepare a brew
- Insert a BUNN paper filter into the funnel.
- Add fresh coffee to the filter and level the grounds by gently shaking the funnel.
- Slide the funnel into the funnel rails.
- Place an empty airpot or other suitable dispenser beneath the funnel.
- Set the ON/LOWER switch to the upper ON position. The operating guide says the switch must be ON to start and complete a brew cycle.
- Momentarily press and release the brew START switch. Do not hold the switch.
- When brewing is complete, discard the used filter and grounds.
The manual also describes a flip-lid pour-in feature for adding water. Place the dispenser under the brew funnel and pour water only through the lid; do not pour coffee into it. Do not use the pour-in feature and press START at the same time, as the guide warns that this can cause an overflow of hot water. A listed airpot brewer feature is a pourover option, but the product information also specifies a direct water connection.
The manual identifies APS models as having no warmers. It states that the ON/LOWER switch supplies power to the brew circuit and, on models other than APS, can also supply power to the brew-station warmer. The guide further notes that the brewer is heated at all times. Keep it away from combustibles.
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Exterior: Clean surfaces with a damp cloth rinsed in mild, non-abrasive liquid detergent. Use care around the heater switch so it is not accidentally turned off while cleaning.
- Sprayhead: Clean the sprayhead holes. The guide says a properly cleaned sprayhead leaves a dimple in the coffee bed for each hole.
- Deliming: With the sprayhead removed, insert the supplied deliming spring all the way into the sprayhead tube, leaving no more than two inches of spring visible. Move it back and forth five or six times. The guide says hard-water areas may require this daily to help prevent lime buildup.
- Faucet aerator: The aerator can be removed for cleaning by unscrewing the assembly counterclockwise from the bottom. Do not attempt to disassemble the rest of the faucet until the brewer is disconnected from the water line.
The guide advises unplugging the brewer when servicing unless electrical tests are specifically required. Inspection, testing and repair of electrical equipment should be performed only by qualified service personnel. It also cautions that electrical components may carry voltage and that solenoid removal requires interrupting the water supply. Follow the manual's service warnings and procedures.
Troubleshooting
- Brew cycle will not start: Check that the ON/LOWER switch is on, that the brewer has power and that water is available. The guide advises checking the main power switch, secure power-cord connection, circuit breakers or fuses, and whether the water lines and valves are open. Check for a plugged water filter.
- Water is not hot: Check that the heater switch is on.
- Inconsistent beverage level: Lime buildup or fluctuating water pressure may be responsible. Use the deliming spring and clean the sprayhead; the guide also suggests a pressure regulator for fluctuating pressure.
- Consistently low or high beverage level: The guide identifies timer adjustment as the remedy.
- Spitting or excessive steaming: Lime buildup is a probable cause. Use the deliming spring and clean the sprayhead.
- Dripping from the sprayhead: The guide identifies the siphon system and says the brewer must be level or slightly lower in front to siphon properly.
- Brew starts when the ON/LOWER switch is turned on: On twin models, an auxiliary brew-start switch may have been activated inadvertently; the guide advises moving objects away from the brewer. This note applies to twin configurations, not a claim that this single brewer has twin controls.
- Weak coffee: The guide recommends BUNN paper filters, a fine or drip grind, a clean sprayhead, a centred filter and a level bed of grounds. It also describes checking water temperature below the sprayhead; the reading should not be less than 195°F (76°C), with thermostat adjustment or replacement identified if required.
- Dry grounds remain in the funnel: Centre the BUNN paper filter, level the grounds by gently shaking and make sure the sprayhead is clean.
The operating guide says to contact Bunn technical service if troubleshooting does not resolve the problem. It reserves electrical inspection, testing and repair for qualified service personnel.
Applications
The airpot format suits coffee service where the dispenser needs to be moved away from the brewer, such as remote meeting rooms or breakfast bars. The listed airpot capacity range and hourly brewing rate support replenishing coffee for service without relying on a stationary coffee pot at the dispensing location. Select an airpot separately; it is not included with the brewer.
