About the Bunn ICB-TWIN-SH
Overview
The BUNN ICB-TWIN-SH is a twin-station commercial coffee brewer for batch brewing in cafes, restaurants, hotels, staff kitchens and other foodservice settings. Two brewing sides support back-to-back service, while the brewer’s listed maximum capacity is up to 18.9 gallons (71.5 litres) per hour. It brews into compatible airpots or baseless ThermoFresh® servers so coffee can be transported to other locations. Servers are sold separately.
This model is part of BUNN’s Infusion Series and uses Soft Heat® servers. The listed product configuration includes wireless server monitoring. Its stainless-steel construction, black plastic funnel and digital display suit regular commercial use. The display supports English or Spanish and can show English or metric measurements.

Installation & Requirements
Electrical connection
Water connection
Connect the brewer to a cold-water system. The installation guide specifies a 1/2-inch or larger supply line, operating pressure from 20 to 90 psi, and a required flow rate of 1.0 gpm. Install a shut-off valve in the line before the brewer. If pressure exceeds 90 psi, the manual calls for a regulator to reduce working pressure to 50 psi. The water inlet uses a 0.75-11.5 NH hose-thread fitting, and an elbow adaptor is provided to convert to a 3/8-inch flare fitting. BUNN-O-Matic does not recommend reverse-osmosis or deionized water for this equipment.
Operation
For initial setup, the installation guide directs the operator to place an empty funnel in each brew station and an empty server beneath each funnel, then connect the brewer to its power source and turn on the corresponding Enable Brew switch. Water fills the tank automatically. The guide says to allow approximately 25 minutes for the water to heat; when ready, the display shows “READY TO BREW...WATER TEMP: 200°.” It notes that some water may drip from the funnels while the water heats due to expansion, and that this should not continue afterward. Factory-set water volumes and flow settings are provided; the programming manual covers changing settings.
Each brewing side has three brew buttons, with recipes assignable to Brew A, Brew B and Brew C. The operator can view assigned recipes with the Enable Brew switch off by holding the relevant brew button. The brewer supports full- and half-batch brewing, pre-infusion and pulse brewing. Use a compatible airpot or baseless ThermoFresh® server under the funnel; these servers are sold separately. The specification sheet lists airpots from 2.5 to 3.8 litres (84 to 128 oz.) and ThermoFresh® servers in 3.8- and 5.7-litre capacities.
Cleaning & Maintenance
The installation and operating guide states that the brewer must not be cleaned with a water jet and must not be immersed for cleaning. The warranty text identifies non-periodic cleaning and descaling, poor water quality, misuse, improper installation or operation, and improper maintenance or repair as conditions that may affect warranty coverage. The available daily cleaning checklist reference does not provide its cleaning steps, so follow the current BUNN operating and care instructions for the actual procedure.
The service manual notes that lime buildup can affect the tank, tank fittings, tubing, valves and sprayhead, and directs operators to inspect and delime as required in the troubleshooting context. The installation guide also says the refill probe should be free of scale buildup when checking refill operation. Disconnect power when servicing unless the specific electrical test requires power, and follow the manual’s service precautions.
Troubleshooting
- Water does not heat or “HEATING TIME TOO LONG” appears: The service manual lists the limit thermostat, temperature probe, tank heaters and control board as possible causes. It directs service checks for continuity and probe readings; it cautions not to eliminate or bypass the limit thermostat.
- Water will not refill or “FILL TIME TOO LONG” appears: Check the water supply, refill probe or sensitivity setting, refill valve, control board and Enable Brew switch as possible causes listed in the service manual. The guide says the water supply shut-off must be open and the brewer switch on for refill operation.
- Inconsistent beverage level: The service manual identifies water pressure, brew valve, bypass valve, lime buildup and brew-volume settings as possible causes. It specifies operating pressure of 20–90 psi and recommends checking for lime buildup in the water path and calibrating sprayhead or bypass flow as required.
- Weak beverage: The manual identifies filter type, coffee amount or grind, sprayhead, funnel loading, water temperature and recipe as factors. It specifies BUNN paper filters for proper extraction, recommends centring the filter and levelling the coffee bed, and says the water temperature immediately below the sprayhead should not be less than 195°F (90°C). Brew volumes, bypass percentage and pulse-brew routines may be adjusted to suit the recipe.
- Dripping from the sprayhead, filter overflow or beverage overflow: The service manual lists a leaking brew valve, incorrect paper filter, missing sprayhead, beverage left in the server or brew-volume adjustment as possible causes, depending on the symptom.
Applications
The twin brewing stations and listed capacity make the ICB-TWIN-SH suitable for commercial operations that need batch coffee available for repeated service periods. Compatible airpots and baseless ThermoFresh® servers allow brewed coffee to be carried away from the brewer for service in dining areas, meeting rooms, hotel lobbies or other locations. The plumbed water connection and programmable brew profiles suit sites that need repeatable batches on both sides of the machine.
