About the Bunn LCA-2
Overview
The BUNN LCA-2 is a two-product ambient liquid coffee dispenser. It serves coffee made from liquid concentrate through two dispense heads, making it suitable for beverage stations where customers serve themselves or staff fill carafes and decanters. The dispenser has a dispense rate of 1.8 ounces per second at each dispense tip.
The LCA-2 is offered with different Scholle 1910 connector and tubing configurations. The listed options include 3/16-inch tubing, 1/8-inch tubing and a 3/16-inch long-feed configuration. Confirm the connector and tubing arrangement needed for the concentrate before selecting a unit.
Key Features
- Two-product dispensing: Serve two liquid coffee products from separate bag-in-box packages.
- Two dispense heads: Each head has a flow rate of 1.8 ounces per second.
- Ambient dispensing: The LCA-2 is identified as an ambient liquid coffee dispenser.
- Ventilated cabinet: The listed LCA-2 features include a ventilated cabinet.
- Connector options: BUNN lists Scholle 1910 configurations with 3/16-inch or 1/8-inch tubing, as well as a 3/16-inch long-feed configuration.

Installation & Requirements
The available installation and operating guide is for the related LCA-2 IC version, not specifically the LCA-2 configuration described on this page. The requirements below are therefore guide details for that related version; check the manual for the exact unit before installation.
Electrical connection in the LCA-2 IC guide
The guide specifies a 120-volt, 15-amp cord set and a grounded, individual branch circuit rated for 120 volts AC, 15 amps, single phase, 60 Hz. It identifies a NEMA 5-15R mating connector. It also cautions that improper electrical installation can damage electronic components and says electrical service is to be provided in accordance with applicable electrical codes.
Water connection in the LCA-2 IC guide
The guide describes connection to a cold-water supply operating between 20 and 90 psi, using a supply line of 1/2 inch or larger. It calls for a shut-off valve before the dispenser. When supply pressure exceeds 90 psi, the guide says to install a regulator and reduce pressure to 50 psi. The water inlet fitting is 3/8-inch flare. For units set to deliver 1.8 ounces per second per dispense tip, the guide specifies a water source able to supply at least 1.7 gallons per minute at the inlet. It recommends 3/8-inch tubing from the 1/2-inch water supply line and at least 18 inches of FDA-approved flexible beverage tubing before the dispenser. The guide does not recommend a saddle valve because its opening may restrict water flow.
The guide also requires adequate backflow prevention in accordance with applicable plumbing and food codes. These plumbing and electrical details are for the LCA-2 IC guide; verify the requirements for the exact LCA-2 build being installed.
Operation
The LCA-2 serves two types of coffee made from liquid concentrate. BUNN’s description of the related LCA-2 IC guide says the dispenser can be set up for continuous, by-the-cup service in self-serve applications or portion-controlled dispensing for carafes and decanters. Follow the concentrate manufacturer’s storage and shelf-life recommendations.
The LCA-2 IC guide describes a function selector with Prime and Normal settings and a mode selector with a Run setting. Its sanitizing procedure uses Prime and Run while flushing the product lines, then returns the function selector to Normal and the mode selector to Run before dispensing until the concentrate-and-water mixture appears. Because this procedure comes from the IC guide, consult the instructions for the exact LCA-2 configuration before applying it.
Cleaning & Maintenance
The available LCA-2 IC guide includes a weekly sanitizing procedure. It directs the operator to open the dispenser door, select Prime and Run, and remove the bag connector from the product box. The connector’s internal valve must be disassembled or propped open so liquid can flow freely. The guide notes that fittings cut from an empty bag can be used as a free-flowing connector.
- Place the bag connector in a one-gallon container of warm soapy tap water at 140°F.
- Place an empty container under the dispense tip and activate the corresponding dispenser until the soapy water comes through the tip.
- Repeat with warm tap water at 140°F until the water runs clear and no soapy water remains in the pump tubing.
- Prepare 2.5 gallons of sanitizing solution by dissolving one packet of Kay 5 sanitizer in water at 120°F. The guide specifies a solution providing 100 ppm of available chlorine.
- Dispense sanitizer until it is visible, continue dispensing for one minute, release the handle and allow the solution to sit for five minutes.
- After the five-minute soak, activate the dispense switch for two minutes, then flush the pump tubing with water until the sanitizing solution is removed.
- Remove the mating connector from the bag connector and reconnect the bag connector to the product box.
- Return the selectors to Normal and Run, then dispense until the concentrate-and-water mixture appears. The guide then directs dispensing one 12-ounce glass.
The guide also describes washing the tray, drip tray cover and cup tray in mild detergent and rinsing them thoroughly. It calls for wiping the splash panel, the area around the dispense nozzles, the door and the cabinet with a clean damp cloth. These cleaning directions are from the LCA-2 IC guide; use the exact manual for the dispenser in service.
Applications
The LCA-2 is suited to commercial beverage stations serving two liquid coffee selections. Its two dispense heads and two bag capacity support by-the-cup service, while the related IC guide also describes portion-controlled dispensing into carafes and decanters. Example settings include cafés, restaurants, cafeterias and other commercial food-service operations that serve liquid coffee concentrate.
