About the Randell 8395N
Overview
The Randell 8395N is a refrigerated counter and pizza prep table that brings an ingredient rail and refrigerated base together at the preparation station. Its 95-inch-wide work surface provides room for pizza assembly and other food-preparation tasks, while three 27-inch doors give access to the refrigerated base. The 8000N Series operator’s manual lists 28.2 cu. ft. of base storage for the 8395N. The manual also describes separate temperature controls for the upper preparation rail and the lower refrigerated base.
This model is listed with NSF 7 specifications. The operator’s manual identifies the 8395N as a 95-inch model in the 8000N Series and provides model-specific operating, care and troubleshooting guidance.
Key Features
- Refrigerated preparation rail: Provides a chilled area for ingredients used during food preparation. The manual refers to the rail’s condiment pans and advises keeping individual pans in the rail during operation.
- Refrigerated base: The lower cabinet provides 28.2 cu. ft. of storage, with access through three 27-inch doors.
- Separate rail and base controls: The manual describes separate temperature adjustments for the preparation rail and refrigerated base.
- Commercial electrical configuration: The 8395N is listed at 115V, 12 amps and 1/2 HP, with a NEMA 5-15P plug.

Installation & Requirements
The 8000N Series manual lists the 8395N electrical configuration as 115V, 12 amps and NEMA 5-15P. It specifies a 1/2 HP system and lists R-404A with a 24 oz. charge. Confirm the electrical service and plug arrangement at the installation site against the unit’s data tag before connecting the equipment. The manual says the serial tag is located behind the refrigerated door or drawer closest to the compressor compartment, on the interior rear wall of the refrigerated base.
The 8395N’s listed overall dimensions are 95 in. wide by 33 in. deep by 42.9 in. high; its work height is 35 in. The listed weight is 600 lb. Allow for the unit’s full dimensions and weight when planning its position and access through doorways or other tight spaces.
Operation
Starting and using the preparation rail
The 8000N Series manual says to clean the rail as needed, then turn on the upper rail using the switch inside the mechanical compartment. With the lids closed, allow 30 minutes for the rail to cool before loading product. If the unit is starting from a fully off position, the manual recommends allowing 45 minutes to one hour for cooling. The manual states that product entering the preparation table must be at 41°F or less.
Keep all individual condiment pans in the rail while the unit is operating. If a pan is empty or not needed, the manual advises filling it with 1 to 2 inches of water as an insulating barrier. Keep the covers closed when the rail is not being used and between rush periods; the manual notes this is especially important during summer or in kitchens exceeding 86°F. Avoid excessive door openings, which can affect base temperature and may contribute to coil freeze-up.
Temperature adjustments and shutdown
The manual says the rail temperature adjustment is on the side of the control box inside the mechanical compartment. The base temperature adjustment is at the top front of the evaporator blower coil assembly inside the lower cabinet. It advises allowing 24 hours between temperature adjustments.
At the end of preparation, remove product from the rail. The manual says product may be transferred to the lower base or another suitable holding cabinet. Turn off the rail using the switch in the mechanical compartment. Once frost has melted, the rail can be cleaned. To drain water from the rail, open the valve in the mechanical compartment and close it when draining is complete.
Cleaning & Maintenance
The 8000N Series manual recommends monthly preventive maintenance and says that repairs resulting directly from neglected preventive maintenance may not be covered under warranty. It calls for cleaning the condenser coils because clean coils support airflow and heat transfer. Clean them with coil cleaner and/or a vacuum, cleaner and brush; brush in the direction of the fins to avoid damaging or restricting airflow. The manual also lists cleaning the condensing-unit fan blade and cleaning and disinfecting drains with warm water and mild detergent.
Clean gaskets weekly, or daily if needed, using warm water and mild detergent to help extend gasket life. The manual cautions against bleach on gaskets because it can make them brittle. Clean and disinfect drain lines and the evaporator pan with warm water and mild detergent. Lubricate door hinges with lithium grease and clear debris from drawer tracks.
For cleaning inside the cabinet, the manual describes removing the drawer module by loosening the two ¾-inch round screws on the rear anchor bracket, then removing the drawer cartridge. Clean the cabinet interior with a mild soap and warm water mixture. Align the cartridge with its bracket and tighten the screws when reinstalling it. Do not use sharp utensils. The manual also says not to use steel pads, wire brushes, scrapers or chloride cleaners on stainless steel; avoid abrasive cleaning solvents and hydrochloric (muriatic) acid.
The manual cautions against using open doors as a place to lean. For stainless steel, it lists soap, ammonia or detergent for routine cleaning; products such as Cameo, Talc, Zud or First Impression for stubborn stains and discolouration; and commercial detergent for grease and oil. Apply cleaners with a sponge or cloth where specified, and rub in the direction of the polish lines for stubborn stains.
Troubleshooting
The 8000N Series manual provides the following checks for common symptoms. For electrical or refrigeration service beyond these checks, it directs operators to qualified service personnel or an authorized service agency.
- Unit does not run: Check that the unit is plugged in and the power switch is on. Check whether the temperature control is off or faulty. The manual also lists an overheated compressor, dirty condenser coil, faulty condenser fan, faulty overload protector, faulty compressor relay or faulty compressor as possible causes; it calls for testing or servicing the relevant component.
- Unit short cycles: Check for a dirty condenser coil, faulty condenser fan, faulty compressor, repeatedly tripping overload, outlet-voltage issue, incorrect pressure-control settings or a solenoid that is not seating. The manual lists pressure-control settings as 20 cut-in / 15 differential.
- Unit runs constantly: Check for a dirty condenser coil, faulty condenser motor, gaskets that do not seal or covers left off. The manual recommends cleaning the coil, servicing the condenser motor, replacing gaskets or putting the covers back in place as applicable.
- Rail is not cold enough while base temperature is OK: Check whether the temperature control is set too high, whether the control is faulty, whether the condenser coil needs cleaning or whether the solenoid valve is not energized. Refrigerant leakage or contamination is also listed; the manual directs operators to call for service for that issue.
- Unit is too cold: Check whether the temperature control is set too low or is faulty.
- Base is warm while rail temperature is OK: The manual lists the thermostat, evaporator fan motors and solenoid valve as checks.
- Unit is noisy: Check for loose or hardened compressor mountings and a damaged condenser fan or a fan contacting its shroud. Tighten or replace mountings, or inspect the fan as appropriate.
- Drawer problems: Check whether drawer tracks are installed backwards and whether roller bearings are loose. The manual directs operators to check track installation and tighten loose bearings.
Applications
The 8395N suits commercial kitchens that need a long refrigerated station for pizza assembly or other ingredient-based preparation, together with refrigerated storage below the work surface. Its 95-inch width, preparation rail and three-door base can support workflows where staff assemble orders at the counter and retrieve chilled ingredients or supplies from the lower cabinet.
