Installation & Requirements

The installation manual calls for a firm, level and smooth base. The alignment and plumb installation of the panels affect door self-closing action, gasket sealing and condensation removal. If the existing floor is not level and smooth, the manual says the surface must be prepared to provide an appropriate base.

Allow at least 2 inches of clearance around the outside of the panels for airflow. Check the planned location for door swing and heated pressure-relief clearance before setting the panels. The manual specifies that indoor walk-ins be installed in an environmentally controlled space, with relative humidity kept between 30% and 60% and a dew point of 50°F or less.

Each panel is labelled with a part number. The manual directs installers to refer to the installation drawing in the door-mounted installation pack, group panels by type and follow the drawing when assembling the enclosure. For the refrigeration system, the manual describes placing the evaporating unit on the cabinet ceiling and positioning the condensing unit nearby. The supplied suction line is 5/8 inch and insulated; the 3/8-inch discharge line is uninsulated. The manual identifies these tubes as factory-supplied and says the refrigeration units are charged with R404A at the factory, with no field vacuum or charge required.
