Installation & Requirements

The operation manual says to keep ventilation openings in the appliance enclosure or built-in structure clear of obstruction and to install the unit in a well-ventilated place. Atosa’s specification sheet also advises leaving the unit room to breathe. The manual gives an ambient operating limit of a temperature-controlled environment below 75°F and 55% relative humidity.

Operation

Temperature adjustment

The electronic controller displays the inside temperature. To change the set point, hold the Set button for three seconds to enter the user menu; the display shows “St.” Press Set again to display the current set-point value. Use the up or down keys to change the value, then press Set to save and return to the menu. The manual describes the factory setting as cooling beverages to approximately 34°F–41°F. The specification sheet lists a maintained range of 35°F–38°F and recommends setting the refrigerator between 35°F and 38°F for the best results in food preservation.

Loading the showcase

Adjust shelf height to suit the dimensions of the products. The CTD-3ST uses forced circulation of cold air, so the manual cautions that obstructing circulation can prevent items from being adequately refrigerated. Do not block the cold-air inlet or suction outlet, and do not let products protrude from the shelves. The space between shelves and the door is part of the air-circulation path. Arrange products evenly on all shelves. Open and close the door quickly and keep it open for as short a time as possible to reduce the loss of cold air.

The manual limits intended storage and display to non-potentially hazardous bottled or canned products. Use the cooler for products within that stated scope.

Defrosting and drain water

Defrosting takes place automatically, and the resulting water collects in the drain tray, where it evaporates automatically. In humid environments, the manual says the tray may collect a larger amount of water and should be emptied once a day. To start a manual defrost, hold the defrost control for three seconds while the display is showing the inside temperature.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Disconnect the appliance from its power source during cleaning or maintenance. Atosa’s specification sheet advises cleaning the condenser frequently to give the unit more fresh air. The supplied manual text does not provide a cleaning method or a more specific condenser-cleaning schedule, so follow the complete manufacturer instructions for the procedure.

If the unit will be inactive or stored, remove all beverages, disconnect it from the power supply and clean the appliance and its accessories thoroughly. Leave the door open so humidity can escape; the manual suggests propping it open to prevent it from closing completely and help prevent mould or odour. Store the appliance in a dry, protected environment, preferably at room temperature. If covering it to protect it from dust, use a cloth that allows air circulation inside the cabinet. The original packaging may also be used.

Regularly check the power plug and cord for damage. A damaged supply cord must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons. The manual says the user must not replace a damaged lamp; contact the customer helpline for assistance.
