Overview

The Atosa CTD-3T is a countertop glass door merchandiser for displaying chilled packaged foods and bottled or canned beverages. Installation & Requirements

Place the merchandiser in a well-ventilated location and keep its ventilation openings clear. Atosa advises leaving the unit room to breathe and cleaning the condenser frequently so it can receive fresh air. The operating manual specifies use in a temperature-controlled environment below 75°F and 55% relative humidity.

The electrical specification is 115 V, 60 Hz, single phase, with a NEMA 5-15P plug and standard 5 ft. cord. Use the specified outlet connection for the unit. The manual says the appliance must be disconnected from its power source during cleaning or maintenance and when replacing parts. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or a similarly qualified person.

Atosa's product literature identifies R600a as the refrigerant. The operating manual warns not to damage the refrigerant circuit and states that installation must be carried out by a suitably qualified person to reduce flammability hazards. Refrigerant must be evacuated and disposed of by a qualified specialist in accordance with federal and local regulations before the appliance is scrapped.

Operation

Set the temperature

The electronic controller is factory set to cool beverages to approximately 34°F–41°F. For food preservation, Atosa recommends setting the refrigerator between 35°F and 38°F. To change the set point, start while the display shows the cabinet temperature. Hold the Set button for three seconds to enter the user menu; the display should show “St.” Press Set again to display the set-point value. Use the up or down buttons to adjust the value, then press Set to save and return to “St.”

Arrange products for airflow

The cabinet uses forced circulation of cold air. Keep products from blocking the cold-air inlet or suction outlet, and do not let items project beyond the shelves. The space between the shelves and door is part of the air-circulation path. Arrange products evenly across the shelves and adjust shelf height to accommodate the items. The manual cautions that obstructed circulation can prevent products from being adequately refrigerated.

Open and close the door quickly, keeping it open for as short a time as possible to limit the escape of cold air. The manual states that defrosting is automatic and water collects in the drain tray, where it is normally evaporated. In humid environments, the tray may collect more water; the manual instructs users to discard accumulated drain water once a day in those conditions.

Manual defrost

If a manual defrost is required, start while the display shows the cabinet temperature and hold the defrost control for three seconds to force the unit into defrost.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Disconnect the appliance from its power source before cleaning or maintenance. Keep the ventilation openings clear and clean the condenser frequently, as Atosa recommends, to help it receive fresh air. The manual does not specify a fixed condenser-cleaning interval.

For periods when the unit will not be used, remove all beverages, disconnect the power and clean the appliance and its accessories thoroughly. Leave the door open so humidity can escape; the manual suggests propping it open to prevent it from closing completely and helping to prevent mould or odour. Store the unit in a dry, protected environment, preferably at room temperature. A covering should allow air to circulate inside the cabinet.
