About the Atosa CRDS-42
Overview
The Atosa CRDS-42 is a square countertop refrigerated display case for presenting chilled food and beverages where customers can see the selection. Its 4.2 cu. ft. interior has two stainless steel shelves, LED interior lighting and clear glass display panels. Two sliding doors at the rear allow staff to load and retrieve products from behind the counter.
The stainless steel exterior and interior are paired with black frames. A rear-mounted compressor uses R290 refrigerant, and an electronic temperature controller manages cabinet operation. The spec sheet recommends setting the refrigerator between 35°F and 38°F for food preservation; a Canadian product listing reports a temperature range of 33°F–41°F (0.5°C–5°C).
Key Features
- Square countertop format: A compact display footprint for a service counter, café counter, bakery or deli work area.
- 4.2 cu. ft. capacity: Space for a curated selection of chilled products.
- Two stainless steel shelves: Standard shelves organize products on two levels.
- Rear sliding doors: Two doors give staff access from the service side without requiring a hinged door swing.
- LED interior lighting: Illuminates items in the cabinet for clear product presentation.
- Defog feature: Helps keep the glass clear for viewing.
- Temperature control: An electronic controller manages the cabinet temperature. The Canadian product listing identifies the controller as a Dixell digital controller.
- Sealed doors: Magnetic door gaskets provide a positive door seal.
- Levelling legs: Allow the case to be levelled on its countertop surface.
- Refrigeration system: Rear-mounted compressor and R290 refrigerant.

Installation & Requirements
Provide a dry, well-ventilated location on a flat, solid surface. The supplied display-cabinet manual advises keeping the equipment at least 20 cm from walls or other objects, and away from heat sources, dust and direct sunlight. Keep the ventilation openings unobstructed, as specified in the manual.
The CRDS-42 specification is 115V, 60Hz, single phase, with a rated current of 2A and a NEMA 5-15P plug. The display-cabinet manual calls for an independently supplied, grounded, single-phase, three-pole receptacle and gives a supply range of 115–127V, 60Hz, single phase. Keep the power cord out of aisles and away from heavy objects and sharp edges. Do not handle the equipment with wet hands or feet. Disconnect power before installation or removing parts, and unplug the unit when it will not be used for an extended period.
The manual cautions against flushing the equipment directly with water and says the refrigerant circuit must not be damaged. Do not use mechanical devices or other means to speed defrosting beyond those recommended by the manufacturer. If the power cord is damaged, the manual says it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or a similarly qualified person. Refrigeration or electrical repairs should be handled by an authorized service agent or professional maintenance staff.
Operation
After installation, clean the cabinet parts, bottom cover plate and shelves, then put the parts in their proper positions and connect the unit to power. Switch on the lighting and check that the lights operate. The manual advises running the empty cabinet for 2 hours on first start-up and loading food only after the cabinet has cooled into its indicated operating range. For CRDS-42 food preservation, the Atosa spec sheet recommends a set temperature of 35°F–38°F.
The manual states a maximum load of 10 kg per shelf. Do not store explosive substances, such as aerosol cans with a flammable propellant, in the appliance. Do not use electrical appliances inside food storage compartments unless the manufacturer recommends that type.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Clean the equipment frequently to support food hygiene and quality. Disconnect the power before cleaning. Use mild water and neutral detergent on the cabinet, then wipe repeatedly with a clean cloth to remove detergent residue. A damp towel may be used on the exterior, but do not expose the equipment directly to water. Make sure the equipment is completely dry before using it again.
The manual advises cleaning dust and debris from the condenser monthly. Remove the dustproof hood, rinse the filter mesh with clean water and allow it to dry before reinstalling it. Do not use organic solvents such as gasoline or alcohol; the manual warns these may damage internal parts and can generate explosive gas. For maintenance or replacement work, disconnect the power and contact a professional or refrigeration service staff.
Troubleshooting
Disconnect the power before carrying out simple checks. If the equipment does not cool properly, the manual lists possible causes including poor socket contact, a failed input control wire, placement near a heat source, frost blockage, overloading that blocks the air inlet or outlet, refrigerant leakage, a dirty condenser, fan failure, a temperature-controller fault or a temperature-control probe touching the cabinet bottom. The listed responses include repairing or replacing a faulty socket, moving the case away from a heat source, manually defrosting, removing some products to clear airflow, cleaning the condenser dust hood, and having faulty wiring, a leak, fan, controller or probe checked or repaired by qualified staff.
If the unit makes excessive noise, the manual lists an uneven installation, loose fan or compressor fasteners, voltage outside the permitted range, a controller fault or compressor damage as possible causes. It recommends adjusting the feet, tightening loose fasteners, using an appropriate voltage regulator if required, or arranging professional repair. If the compressor does not run, check whether the switch is off or has failed and whether the plug connection is secure; have a fault repaired if these checks do not resolve the problem. For lighting failure, the manual lists loss of power, a damaged light power supply or a failed light as possible causes, with replacement or repair by qualified staff as appropriate. If simple checks do not resolve a problem, contact a professional service provider.
Applications
The supplied display-cabinet manual identifies supermarkets, cake shops and hotels as suitable settings. The CRDS-42 can also serve as a countertop display for chilled portions, desserts, packaged foods or beverages in a café, deli or other food-service operation. Use it for refrigerated display and storage of appropriate foods, not for purposes outside the appliance’s intended use.
